Whether you’re planning a trip or just dreaming of one, read on to discover how to make the most of your time in Jaisalmer.
Day 1: Arrival & Immersing in Jaisalmer’s History
Late Morning: A Royal Welcome at Jaisalmer Fort our journey began with an unforgettable stay at Jaisalmer Fort, one of the few living forts in the world where people still reside. The fort itself is a stunning piece of architecture, built from golden-yellow sandstone that glows in the sunlight. Staying inside the fort was like stepping back in time—an experience that combines history with modern comforts. After a traditional Rajasthani breakfast, We set out to explore the fort’s narrow lanes, each one telling stories from the past. The fort’s panoramic views are perfect for capturing Instagram-worthy shots!

Afternoon: Exploring Patwa Ki Haveli After a delicious Rajasthani thali for lunch, We headed to Patwa Ki Haveli, a group of five havelis that are among the most stunning architectural wonders in Jaisalmer. Built in the 19th century, these havelis were commissioned by a wealthy Jain trader and are known for their intricate carvings and opulent interiors. Walking through the halls of Patwa Ki Haveli felt like a journey through time, with each room telling its own story of the past.
Evening: Sunset Serenity at Gadisar Lake As the day began to wind down, I made my way to Gadisar Lake, a man-made reservoir that once served as Jaisalmer’s primary water source. Surrounded by temples and ghats, the lake is a peaceful spot that offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. A boat ride on the lake as the sun set, casting a golden glow over the water—a truly magical moment that perfectly captured the essence of Jaisalmer.

Night: A Royal Dinner & Fort Stay After an eventful day, We returned to our haveli(Hotel Grah Jaisal) within Jaisalmer Fort for a royal dinner. The fort takes on a whole new charm at night, with the city lights twinkling in the distance and the fort’s ancient walls glowing under the starry sky. Staying within the fort was an experience like no other, offering a unique blend of history, luxury, and unbeatable views.
Day 2: Cultural Immersion & Farewell to Jaisalmer

Morning: A Stroll Through Local Markets On the second day, We walked on local market for breakfast before heading out to explore the markets around the fort. Jaisalmer is famous for its handicrafts, and the markets are a treasure of Rajsthani dress, Rajputi chuda, colorful textiles, intricate jewelry, and unique souvenirs.
Late Morning: I spent the morning browsing through the stalls, chatting with local artisans, and picking up a few treasures to bring home.
Afternoon: Relax & Reflect After exploring the havelis, We enjoyed a leisurely lunch at a local restaurant. With some time to spare before my departure, I took one last walk around the fort, soaking in the views and reflecting on the incredible experiences of the past two days.
Evening: A Fond Farewell to Jaisalmer As the sun began to set, it was time to bid farewell to Jaisalmer. My 2-day journey through the Golden City had been nothing short of magical, filled with unforgettable moments and a deeper appreciation for Rajasthan’s rich heritage. Whether you’re visiting Jaisalmer for the first time or returning to relive old memories, this city will captivate your heart with its timeless charm.
Conclusion: Jaisalmer is a city that perfectly blends history, culture, and natural beauty. In just two days, We were able to explore the best that Jaisalmer has to offer—from the majestic fort and opulent havelis to the serene Gadisar Lake. While this itinerary focuses on the rich heritage within the city, we didn’t cover the SAM Sand Dunes and the desert safari experience. However, if you have an extra evening, I highly recommend spending it at SAM for an unforgettable desert safari under the stars. The dunes offer a magical experience, with camel rides, cultural performances, and the serene beauty of the desert at night. If you’re looking for a travel destination that offers a unique and enriching experience, Jaisalmer should be at the top of your list. I hope this blog has inspired you to embark on your own adventure in the Golden City, where every corner has a story to tell.
